Greenville Glimpse: The Zoo

This morning the girls were invited by their Uncle Kent to join him and his two little ones, Andrew (5) and Rachell (2), for a trip to the zoo. For about 2 hours they enjoyed a great time seeing various animals on a beautiful spring morning.

Greenville Glimpse: Bible Conference

Bible Conference came to an end last night. It was a wonderful week of messages that built the girls up spiritually, shifts at work with their little cherubs, a dinner date with their McKenzie grandparents and good times of fellowship with friends. The icecream treat was a certificate they won through a campus game, similar to those offered in fast food restaurants where you collect little pictures to win something. They got the little "pictures" at the "Grab and Go" meal line.

Lavender Green, Dilly-dilly, Lavender Blue...

Colors and faces were the central part of our egg project today. :) Mommy had brought us a box of egg coloring helps, and the kids enjoyed the stickers, and we all the results, too!

Karfreitag/Good Friday

We had a good service this morning during which Daddy preached a very good message from Romans 6, 1-14. We enjoyed Raclette for dinner. Later in the afternoon Dustin made rice crispy bars with marshmellows Grandpa and Grandma brought over with them. The kids enjoyed various activities with Amber today, but I caught this moment in time with Danielle.

Spring Break in Niedern

Bradley and our three teens left with the others not long after church on Sunday to attend the youth retreat. They are half way through camp already. We continue to pray for the Lord to work in hearts. Here at home the kids have enjoyed some cousin time. In spite of cold winds they have spent a lot of time outside roller blading, the boys played basket ball at Matthia's and all have enjoyed bouncing. Danielle is multi-tasking. She was snacking on toast bread while exercising. :) Today we blew out eggs (which we ate scrambled for dinner), and the kids had fun painting them to hang up in our window. Eddie and Dustin fixed up a special camp-out on mattresses in their room for tonight.

Danae turns 19

The Lord gave Danae a very special birthday. When we called to sing to her at breakfast time it was 34°F outside, and by the evening when we called to say good-night (from our side) it was in the 70's. Many friends sent her birthday greetings, her co-workers had a cake and goodies waiting when she came back in from her first walk of the year with two of the little cherubs. Supper was Grandpa and Grandma Matthia's treat with Uncle Kent and Andrew, and Erik, who had been working for the opera during the family party. Dalene had made cards and posters, and her roommates also had goodies for her.

Greenville Glimpse: Birthday Party for Danae

On March 10th Danae will turn 19. Tonight the family and several girl friends were invited to celebrate her birthday at Grandpa and Grandma Matthia's house. Dalene sent me these pictures during the party, just as I was turning in, so I decided to add them "hot off the press". :) How we thank the Lord for Danae! (May the Lord continue to bless you and guide you into His perfect will, Naenae! We love you.)

Mother-Dolly-Overnight

Friday night Doreen and Danika were invited down to Lynette's house for a Mother-Dolly-Overnight. Lynette had fixed up their living room, and the girls had a wonderful time dressing the dolls up for church, school, photo shootings, outside play, picnics, the beach and for the night. Doreen did a great job taking pictures (and some videos--voices supplied by the dolly mothers) of it all. I picked out a few for you to enjoy.

Greenville Glimpse: Danae's Calligraphy Project

Danae has been enjoying her art classes very much. Last week she got her calligraphy project back which we loved seeing, too. This is a close-up, so the black you see is the matting she mounted it with. (Click on it to enlarge, if you like.)

Greenville Glimpse: Work and Dress-Up :)

Danae with one of her cherubs at work, and Dalene on a baby-sitting job (in this case her two little cousins). Last week was also Artist Series (the opera "Barber of Seville"). In the first picture the girls are standing with Dalene's roomie, Stephanie, and Abi. Abi's friendship with our girls is a third generation friendship. Her grandparents were friends in school with my parents. They were missionaries in Japan for many years, and our furloughs overlapped once. We (My sister and I, and their two oldest girls) corresponded during our teen years. We then all attended BJ at the same time. Now Abbi, oldest daughter of the second girl, and our girls have become friends. The Lord orchestrated their meeting through a friend of Abbi's who is friends with Dalene's roommate. In the bottom picture the girls are with Laura L., their friend that is also Erik's girlfriend.

Greenville Glimpse: Marching into March

Dalene, her two roommates, Stephanie and Janette, and Danae (their honorary fourth roommate :)) spent some time shopping and eating (treat of Stephanie's parents) last week-end. It was a beautiful spring day and they had a wonderful time together.
