Devon turns 17!

For the first time in Devon's life, his daddy was not here to celebrate his birthday with him. It was strange, but we did enjoy a nice phone call with Bradley before he had to leave for his day of ministry and fellowship. We had our party in the late afternoon as a light supper and coffee and cake time.

This past week at Camp Impact

The boys left with their cousin Eldon, Uncle Kevin, Uncle Kirk, and Grandpa Matthia for a week of work at camp. The latter two had flown over for the specific purpose of helping at camp for the whole time. The Lord gave grace and safety, and much was accomplished during that time. About half way into their trip, an accident brought all the traffic to a complete stop. They figured they were about one kilometer behind the wreck. The wreck up ahead: A semitruck and a car Biding their time Right at the border to Thüringen The boys set up their room for the week. Entrance to the "Adventure Arena", the future home of the Activity Centre. Daddy and Kirk's luggage was delivered to camp. They brought over two very helpful yard machines. The boys worked on many things, one of which was cutting back thorn bushes. Derek lost his balance and fell backwards into the middle of them. It was a painful wait while the camera was located. :) We drove down on Thursday afternoon and took the day off from school on Friday. Danika found this little egg not long after we got to camp. As we were doing up the dishes after our afternoon coffee and cake time, Danielle fell across a chair and split open her head. Donia held her for me and I used a map Bradley had made when the property was first purchased to find the nearest hospital. How thankful I was for his forethought. Kevin had the sheet in his van. When we got back the men were still working on painting the hallway ceiling. They were getting their electricity from the generator. Danielle dropped right off to sleep that night. A close-up of her "glued" split. This drawing was on the wall of our room. As Devon told the kids, it was a nice reminder of our "Papa", whom we miss dearly. :) Donia and Doreen carried the dishwater over to the one toilet we use. We flush it with water we pour down ourselves. Though we had been getting the water from the brook down the mountain, the water had been turned on in one place and was brought to the building in a thick hose the day we got there. Dustin carried the flowers and plant earth over for me. Danielle carried all the plants over and set them in a nice row on the wall. Devon helped me plant by digging the holes. We had gotten some free dirt which we spread around the new little plants. Daddy and Kirk paint the yellow room. Unloading after shopping Another snake find Doreen working with the blower Devon grilled the meat for supper. Derek caught this cute picture of Danielle. This is the front of the building that houses two dining halls. The one burned out and faces the front; the other is still in fairly nice shape. Kirk wanted me to pose by the flowers. :) I was thinking of my Honey over in the States. :) My sweet Daddy left me a greeting by the steering wheel which I found when it was time to go. They smelled wonderful! I have them here at home now. :) Kevin and Daddy waving good-bye. They were all working up there on that floor. Even with relatives standing near-by to say good-bye, Danielle was concerned that she say good-bye to Star. :) Looking down the road from the benches and little planter to the north gate entrance. Georgenthal is the first little town at the bottom of the mountain to the north east. We drive past this beautiful little lake on one of our road options to get to the interstate, which is about 15 minutes away.
