Helpers at Camp ---Big and Small (April 2nd-4th)

Loading time at Matthias Preparing a spot for Star, Erik's golden lab, to go on her first trip to camp. Derek got to have her next to him on the way down. She did well. When they got to camp, they found two deer grazing on the property. They were unphased by the arrival of the van and the dog. Star, herself, lowered herself down and just watched them. Edwin and Dustin helping to clean up the sidewalks. These next nine pictures were sent to me by Stephen K. and are posted with his permission. Thank you, Stephen. Derek enjoyed having Star along. Lots of glass to get rid of (Derek just told me that they took this picture because the bristles fell off the broom when he started to use it. Guess it had been sitting there for awhile! :)) Kay getting started on the grassy areas. This was Kay's first trip to camp. Cleaning out along the buildings Trimming trees Dustin raking up the mowed grasses. The rest of these pictures (and all of the first ones) are from Derek: Downed tree branches to gather They opened all the windows to help bring in some fresh air. Dustin doing more raking. Kevin taking a turn with the "mower-verticulator". One of the visitors who dropped by to "take a look" at what is going on. Fun with Star! Jim K. and Mike T. enjoying supper near the fire. Dustin and Derek next to the fire. You can see the evidence of the sun on their faces. Dustin came back with a burn on his neck, too. That possibility never crossed my mind! Carol heard on the news yeasterday, that the town just south of Camp Impact was the warmest place in Germany yesterday. In the mid 20's (Guess I better add that I am talking about Celsius :) Things have warmed up, at least during the day, since the last trip!) Derek was excited to find 11 more mattresses: You can see them airing out in front of the building. Star was a good traveller. Dustin was happy to sit next to her on the way back. One of the "Twelve Apostles", visible on the way home.

seeing all the work getting done is exciting! and knowing that your temperatures are in the 20's makes me more thankful for our thirty-five degrees. ♥
